BIRDING PROGRAM

Birdwatchers can plan a walking, driving, boat or horseback riding tour throughout Laguna de Aves. You can choose from a lagoon, steppe or jungle-like scenario.

  • The lagoon scenario is a boat ride along the lagoon in which you can have the possibility to spot many water birds.
  • Another option is the jungle-like scenario which is a walking tour through a path covered all along with jungle-like vegetation.
  • You also have the option of having a horseback riding tour through paths specially made for our visitors.
  • Driving tour is also available. This tour is taken in a special observation truck with sits on the back for your comfort.

$2,400 per person, plus airfare to McAllen or Brownsville

DEPOSIT AMOUNT

We require a 50% deposit in order to hold your reservation.
Deposit has to be made through a bank deposit in order to make the reservation. The rest of the balance should be paid 60 days prior to departure.

TYPICAL AIRFARE

McAllen or Brownsville (Texas) are the most common getaways. You will be picked up from either McAllen or Brownsville, then be driven to Laguna de Aves, which is a 4 hour drive. From McAllen or Brownsville, you have the option of taking a 30 minutes flight charter to Laguna de Aves (Charter not included in price & only by request). The flight expenses from any part of the U.S. to McAllen or Brownsville are not included.

OPTIONS

Overnight stays in McAllen or Brownsville may be arranged. We can help you make the reservations in a hotel nearby the airport.

GETTING THERE

Getting to Laguna de Aves is very simple. You have to fly to McAllen or Brownsville Texas; once you’re here you have 3 options:

  • You can be picked up and driven to Laguna de Aves, which is a 4 hour drive.
  • You can connect with a 30 minute flight charter to take you directly to Laguna de Aves. We can help you reserve this charter (by request) *
  • You can fly by yourself to Laguna de Aves. (coordinates are available and will be given upon request) *

We have a 1.1 mile paved private runaway at 300 feet from the lodge.

CAPACITY

10 birdwatchers per group.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Birdwatchers will reside in our beautiful, cozy lodge. It holds a maximum of 10 guests including the tour guide.

MEALS

All meals are included while your trip in Laguna de Aves; from a delicious breakfast served early in the morning to a complete and exquisite supper prepared by our chef after a fulfilling day of bird watching.

If you are the kind of person who is into cooking, you also have the option of preparing your own meals at anytime you want.
For your comfort we have American food products for you to enjoy while you stay with us.

NON-BIRDING ACTIVITIES

Laguna de Aves is not only for bird watching. There are other activities you can do while you’re here like:

  • Horseback riding
  • Fishing
  • Water skiing
  • Boat rides
  • Wildlife watching

SAMPLE OUTLINE ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival into Laguna de Aves

Day 2, 3 & 4: Full days of bird watching through different paths and scenarios, all of these located inside our facilities.

Day 5: After the last guided tour, return to the lodge to be transported to McAllen or Brownsville for you to connect to your flight back home.

HEALTH

We have the basic First-Aid products in case you need them. Be sure to bring your own sunscreen and insect repellent.
